Director - Matt Budden
Matt was born and raised on a cattle and cropping property between Chinchilla and Miles which instilled a strong work ethic in him from a young age. With a desire to work with his hands, he completed an apprenticeship in Cabinetmaking in Chinchilla. His footballing talent took him to Brisbane where Matt spent 7 years as Production Manager for a boutique cabinetry business, earning many skills in project and people management. Following his now wife, Lauren, back to Toowoomba, he sought a mature-age apprenticeship in Carpentry. Under the tutelage of Paul Spence, a renowned local builder who specialises in colonial and restoration work, he learnt many of the ‘old skills’. After time spent as a foreman and subcontractor to other local builders, he stepped out on his own in 2017. As a lover of things of old, Matt is particularly passionate about colonial restoration.
The name ‘Woodvale’ holds a special place in Matt’s heart as it was the name of the property where he grew up and pays hommage to this, while bringing a strong sense of pride to all that he does.
Matt and Lauren, a secondary teacher, together with their 3 daughters live locally in Toowoomba. Lauren assists with book-keeping and administration of the business.
Our Team
Josh is trade-qualified Carpenter who works closely with Matt and is our go-to man. He is also locally born and bred. Currently, Kyle is undertaking a mature-age apprenticeship with us, following working as a Cabinetmaker for 9 years. Our small team means you know who is on your site or in your home when construction is taking place and makes communication a whole lot easier.
As a small family business, most of our regular trades - electrician, plumber, painter, plasterer, bricklayer, tiler and certifier - are all small local businesses also. Our connection to a variety of tradesmen, architects and suppliers are an asset to your project.
